Organic Harvest to The Strawberry Tree is daily. Through our Kitchen door every morning, fifty-two weeks a year, our Farmers bring what they have harvested, and it is only then that our menu is decided. However, the ‘Big Harvest’ only arrives once a year when our menu bursts with all this wonderful produce for all too brief cameo appearances. This year Nature has decide, as Nature does, that The Big Harvest Menu will commence on 03rd of September (last year it was late October!) where we give full homage to our Farmers, with a Special 7 Course Tasting Menu dedicated totally to the Farm.

The connection between The Strawberry Tree Restaurant and the Farmers that produce our ingredients started decades ago and has always been direct. Through our Kitchen door every morning, fifty-two weeks a year, our Farmers bring what they have harvested, and it is only then that our menu is decided. Ralph’s buttermilk goes straight to our Bakery, his double rich cream to Anna in Pastry and his pure yellow butter onto your side plate. Ned brings us in full sides of wonderful Organic Pork, the Regan’s Organic Duck and Chicken also come in and if the time of year is right, her wonderful Lamb. By hook and by crook, Siobhan gets her Kid Goat and fab cheeses in through our back door. Denis, Duncan and more, drop in with their vegetables, leaves and lettuces, all picked and delivered through our kitchen door within two hours…and the list goes on and on. Suffice to say though that some mornings, the espresso machine and the banter, vie with each other as to which is louder.

Of course being Ireland much of the talk, is not just around the cuppa, but also the weather! None of us need reminding about the weather last year! This year we had Winter-cold in the Spring, but the Summer sunshine has looked after the Farm well. Given a late start the yield has caught up nicely, and of course harvesting is always on going, from Winter root vegetables to Spring lamb to Summer fruits and of course, our celebration of The Big Reap in early Autumn. Harvest to our Kitchen is daily, but The Big Harvest only arrives once a year when our menu bursts with all this wonderful produce for all too brief cameo appearances. This year Nature has smiled kindly on the Farm, and The Strawberry Tree’s Big Harvest Menu will commence, five weeks earlier than last year, when we will give full homage to our Farmers, with a menu dedicated totally to the Farm.

TThe ‘Big Harvest’ Farm Menu 2013 will appear as a 7 Course Tasting Menu in The Strawberry Tree Restaurant daily, from September 3rd until October 6th at 7pm, 8pm & 9pm
