The Crew & Management here at BrookLodge & Macreddin Village are delighted to have been featured in The RTÉ Guide in a piece written by the lovely Elle Gordon about Rediscovering County Wicklow.
In this article, we join Elle as she takes us on a delightful journey of exploration and discovery through the luscious Wicklow region, also known as the Garden of Ireland. Elle’s journey began in Windrush Farm, near Newtownmountkennedy, where she learned how to craft beautiful jewellery from a mother daughter duo, Lucinda & Sophie. Elle then set off on a journey to BrookLodge & Macreddin Village, where she joined us for a night amongst the snow-capped landscape. Here is what Elle had to say about her time at Macreddin Village:
“Back on the road to the beautiful BrookLodge & Macreddin Village, where we chowed down on some delicious southern Italian cuisine in their La Taverna Armento restaurant, before retiring to wonderfully comfy beds for a good night’s sleep. Our plan the next day was to visit Avondale Forest Park and its new and hugely popular Tree Top Walk and Viewing Tower.
Unfortunately, due to the snow, that plan had to be put on hold. I will visit properly soon, as the Park has just started guided tours of the historic Avondale House.
Instead, we took the chance to relish the beautiful surrounds of BrookLodge, spending some time in their spa thermal suite, the highlight of which was a toasty outdoor hot tub, drinking in the view of the snow-topped surroundings. Later, we ate at The Strawberry Tree Restaurant which is the only restaurant in Ireland certified by the Organic Trust, so everything is served free from preservatives or pesticides and traceable to its exact point of origin.”
We take great pride in our commitment to making our guests feel at home and it was wonderful to receive such positive feedback from Elle. We look forward to welcoming her back to BrookLodge in the future and hope she will have many more memorable stays with us.
